There are so many platforms to share on now that sometimes we neglect the important ones. Yes, Facebook is a big player, and Instagram we all know is the star when it comes to sharing photos. Oh goodness I almost forgot Pinterest, well don't do that because Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration. Everything from across the web all gathered on to a platform where we can search a list of photos. No more reading to find interesting stuff, we decide based on the photo...go Pinterest!!! But where do we tell our story, even if sometimes no one is listening? By blogging!!!
As a photographer, every one has told me to blog. "Blog at least a few times a week." BUT...who has time for that when social media is so big, so rooted into our lives, and more efficient than any other form of marketing on so many levels, or so we think. Well if I am being honest, I do. I have time to blog I just don't, instead I share on social media, edit galleries, update my website, plan for projects, and show up ready for sessions.
Okay, so here is my excuse... I don't blog because I feel my time is better spent elsewhere... Or at least I did.
There are great reasons that I was given the advice to blog, and that almost every single great photographer has a blog, and here are a few.
Blogging makes it easier to be found... I'm talking SEO people!!!
Search engines love good content, so the sites that give content are rewarded by search engines.
Blogging tells your story...building a brand that can be trusted!!!
People want to know what they are buying, they want to know why you are selling it, and they want to know that you know what you are doing. Blogging gives you the chance to show them just what you are made of.
Blogging can be fun and exciting... what fun and exciting???
That's right I said fun and exciting. Haven't you ever just wanted to get back to what is important? Your passion and sharing it!!! That is why as photographers we do what we do. We love... art! memories! beauty! telling a story! finding the right light! Don't miss the chance to be inspired again. Get to blogging.
Now with that being said I am guilty of not blogging as often as I should.
So why do we ask ourselves...
To blog or not to blog? It's not really a question...
